I'm stuck here
I can't get out
but I don't want you to see me pout

I want to improve
I want to change
but I cannot break free from all these chains

I despise what you think of me
I'm not the person that you say I am
I want to be different than that
but I can't help but live down
to your expectations of me now

please just give me a chance
don't look at me with that sideways glance
I know we can do better than this
we're doing ourselves so much injustice

please let's give it a rest
I feel you're keeping me from being my best and
I can't keep living like this
I need to be free I need to be me

I'm tired of this
all I do is fret
this can't be as good as it will get
